ABOUT THIS BLOG
Welcome to my blog! I am writing about what it is like for a slightly out of shape, 40-year-old, single mother, cancer survivor, special educator, army combat veteran, non-swimming woman (ME) to train for my first triathlon! I am participating in this training as a way to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as a part of Team In Training. We are a group of amazing, slightly weird, passionate people interested in supporting people in our local area going through cancer treatment.

Will I learn how to swim? Will I make my fundraising goal of $3400.00 by April 15th (the deadline I need to meet in order to compete in the June 27th Triathlon)? I HAVE LEARNED TO SWIM! I HAVE SURPASSED MY FUNDRAISING GOAL!
If When I make it to the triathlon, will I make it through the .91 mile swim, the 28 mile bike ride, and the 10 kilometer run? Follow along with me for 107 days of training and fundraising to find out!

Hello,
I’m a friend of Kathy H. – she forwarded me your blog and said you are a breast cancer survivor. I’m in the midst of chemo tx right now for breast cancer (chemo) – had a mastectomy and will Also have radiation, herceptin, and a pill every day for 5years(the full meal deal!). Thanks for inspiring me-
kj
Hi Karen- I’m so glad Kathy shared my blog with you. I’m sorry about your diagnosis. Cancer sucks, eh? I’m grateful, though, for all the medical treatment that’s available. Although the medical stuff never seems to end, it does. I remember once being in the waiting room for day whatever of radiation, and overhearing a woman on the phone talking about how she just reached her 5 year mark and could finally stop taking the “5 year pill”. It dawned on me that my treatment, too, would not go on forever!
I kept a blog of my experiences during cancer/chemo/radiation, etc. that I share with family, friends, and other cancer survivors. If you’d like a link, send me a message at kristalhind@yahoo.com
Stay strong!
Hi Krista,
congratulation for your beautiful organization and goal!
I’m not actually an athlete unfortunately but part of a team that is arranging a race in Italy.
If you have a facebook profile, please join, you may discuss with real athletes that will be happy to support you!
Where are you from?
Best wishes for all your wonderful team!
Micaela
Hi Micaela- Thanks for your comment! I’d love to hear more about the race in Italy. I looked at your facebook page, but unfortunately don’t understand Italian. Where and when is your race taking place? My race will be in Bend, Oregon.
Hey! I haven’t talked to you in a LONG time. You’re really inspiring, not only to a lot of people, but to me. Anyway, keep staying motivated and keep being the beacon of hope to the many people reading your blog! I finally decided to read one of your entries today, and I was completely astounded at the things you continue to achieve. God bless!
